Giving Birth to an Idea – Sonic Territories Festival 2025
Sometimes ideas are not planned; they are born in conversation.
During one of the workshops at the Sonic Territories Festival 2025, something began to take shape — not a project in the formal sense, but a sense of connection. After the session ended, a few of us stayed behind, surrounded by cables, instruments, notebooks, and the soft hum of lingering sound. The discussion turned from the technical aspects of sonic art to what lies beneath: how we share, collaborate, and document our creative processes.
In that moment, the idea of an active artist and researcher collaboration network began to take form. It wasn’t announced or decided — it simply emerged, like a resonance between people who had been thinking along similar frequencies. The more we spoke, the clearer it became that we needed a space to continue these dialogues, to share not only finished works but also the fragile in-betweens — sketches, reflections, and processes.
What started as a casual conversation became the seed of a network — one that connects artists and researchers across disciplines and places, driven by curiosity and mutual respect. We envisioned a platform where art and research are not opposites, but parts of a single movement toward understanding and transformation.
The Sonic Territories Festival gave us more than inspiration; it gave us each other — and perhaps, the beginning of something that will continue to evolve and echo far beyond the festival itself.
